The Basic Steps

This isn't from a catalog. Its a real room. With real toys and dirty laundry. But two pretty images might fool someone. Maybe? This isn't a stock image. Its my little girl. And you could have your little girl on your wall.

Here's how its done in a few steps.

  1. You take a picture. (Tips on better silhouette pictures here.)
  2. We flip it, creat a silhouette, make it into any color or size you want.
  3. You select a stock embellishment (or stock silhouette) to compliment your image.
  4. You adhere to artist canvas (or wall, or whatever you want).
  5. You look like you have a catalog bedroom. In your house. With real toys with real dirty laundry.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is your product?
Vinyl lettering is becoming a household name given the popularity and versatility it gives to decorators. It is made out of calendared vinyl, which both goes on and off with incredible ease. It allows you to change the look of your room in minutes, but without the permanence, time and high expense that would be incurred with hand painting, stenciling, or hiring a professional. Our product is very durable and yet so thin it feels flush to the wall.

How will my product arrive?
Your product will arrive ready to apply. The image generally comes in a single sheet which you can apply in one easy shot. The only products that won’t come in a single roll are those that are oversized (larger than 21” wide) or have multiple colors in the design.

How do I apply my image?
Applying your images is really quite easy. It takes about 20 minutes from start to finish for most sizes. Every order comes with a small sample word or graphic to practice applying before your image. That way you can test your surface and your skills so you will practically be a pro when you do your ‘real’ one. We also recommend that you watch the videos below.

What type of surfaces will my image work on?
Your design will work on most smooth or lightly textured surfaces. Although heavily textured walls do work, the rough texture shows through the vinyl and the image has less surface space to adhere to. Some of our popular uses have been for interior walls, canvas (which must be painted first), smooth metal, sign boards/painted wood, decorative plates, picture frames (directly on the glass or on backing), windows, mirrors, glass. Use your test graphic to see if your surface will work for your permanent image.

What type of surfaces will my image not work with?
Although most surfaces work great, rough or uneven surfaces will not adhere. For example, stucco, cinder block, brick, etc.

How do I remove my image?
Removing your image is once again really simple. With tweezers or your fingernail, grab the corner of the image and gently pull it off at an angle. If for any reason it isn’t interested in moving, you can warm it up with a hair dryer and gently pull again. This makes this product ideal for those of us who never know how long they will be staying in one place – super for renters and itchy-feeters.

Is the vinyl reusable?
No. The images are not reusable. If you are planning on putting your image on a sign board, decorative plate or mirror, they will of course become permanent. The beauty of the wall designs is that they are unique decorations designed to give your home or office designer flair with affordable prices.

What type of photo do I need to send in?
Most photos from digital cameras work great. Read this post for tips on taking silhouette photos. The key to remember is that bribes are okay and patience is key to get your subject to pose. Remember, a well positioned subject will create a better looking vinyl silhouette. Whatever you send in, is how the image will be returned. Pay attention to make sure you get a good direct profile. A good way to tell is if the eyelash of the subject is close to the bridge of the nose-this will make a good profile. Make sure the chin is above the shoulders.

If you are going to be using them as part of a set or bigger image, make sure they are posed just how you will use them. Help your child imagine picking a flower, blowing bubbles, swinging from a vine, looking at the stars, etc. Getting a perfect marching (or whatever) pose with shoulders back and knees at 90 degree angles might not happen, but that is the beauty of child art, anyway. Slouchy, crooked, or straight.. it really is them. And that is beautiful.

I'm not sure if this photo will work, can I send more than one?
If you aren’t sure which photo will work the best, you are welcome to send more than one. We want you to be happy with your image. Be assured that we won't turn just any image into wall art. Keep in mind we do not alter the images – the silhouette turns out just like as the photo. If there are obvious errors, we will contact you.

Can I overlap images?
Absolutely. The vinyl is so thin, you can easily overlap images for special effects decorating.

How long will it take to get my order?
All orders are shipped 3-5 business days USPS Mail. If you need urgent shipping, let us know.
